I qualified as a Level 3 Body Control matwork instructor in 2004. I also completed an HND in sports therapy injury rehabilitation and Swedish and sports massage at the same time.
My background is in dance. When I finished a 3 year dance training course in Edinburgh I went on to dance on cruise ships and in musical theatre. I started attending Pilates classes when I stopped performing and after attending classes for over a year I decided to train as a Body Control Pilates teacher.
Over the years I’ve worked with clients who are very fit to generally fit and with people who want to start exercising again or exercising for the first time. I’ve worked with clients who are wishing to improve their performance in their given sport. I’ve worked with people who have experienced back or other health issues and I’ve also had the pleasure of working with pro footballers and cricketers.
The Body Control teacher training included 12 days of intensive coursework, anatomy, physiology and theory exams and 50 hours of supervised teaching before I was signed off to teach matwork classes.
I’ve also qualified in the Intermediate syllabus and various other short courses in Movement, Pilates for Bone Health and Osteoporosis and various small equipment courses.
I’m a member of REPs and attend various courses throughout the year with the Body Control Pilates Association to keep my profession learning and development up to date.
